Student Matinees at Mill Mountain Theatre

Mill Mountain Theatre is delighted to welcome your school group.  We hope your experience will be easy and enjoyable, so we've included some commonly requested information especially for student matinees.  Should you have any unanswered questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact Amy Alls, Group Sales Coordinator, at 540-342-5733.

  • Bus, school and performance schedules are tight and therefore necessitate that performances begin on time.  Please remember that other schools will be arriving as well and allow ample travel time to the theatre.  Arrive at least 15 minutes before curtain time.

  • Buses may unload and load at the front entrance to Center in the Square on Campbell Avenue, however, please do not block the parking garage entrance.  After quickly unloading, please leave the unloading zone as soon as the last student has left the bus.

  • Bus parking is available at the Roanoke Civic Center on Williamson Road North.  There is also parking at the corner of Third Street and Campbell Avenue.  (Follow Campbell across Williamson Road, then take a left on Third.)

  • Your bus driver will be informed of the running time of the performance so that he or she knows when to return for pick-up.  At the student's designated departure time, the bus driver should return to the loading zone in front of Center in the Square.  The driver will be asked to circle the block if the students are not ready to load, or if another bus is waiting.

  • Your group will be seated according to a pre-assigned seating chart.

  • Please remind all students prior to their visit of appropriate behavior during the performance.  This includes no talking, giggling, putting feet on seats, chewing gum, throwing things, etc.  Students who misbehave during a performance will be asked to wait for their group outside the theatre.

  • Please also remind all students prior to their visit that the use of cellular phones, portable gaming systems, and other hand-held electronic devices is not only distracting to the actors, crew, and their fellow students, but is prohibited in the theatre.
