Mill Mountain Theatre Manuscript Submission Guidelines

Submission Procedure: Submissions for main stage, second stage, family/youth pieces, and school tours are by invitation or agent referral. Unsolicited scripts accepted for free lunchtime reading series only.
Types of material: full-length plays, one-acts, musicals, solo pieces.
Facilities: Trinkle Main Stage, 360 seats, flexible proscenium stage; Waldron Stage, 135 seats, flexible stage.
Production considerations: cast limit of 15 for plays, 24 for musicals, prefers unit set.
Best submission time: year-round.
Response time: 6 weeks letter; 6-8 months script. Include only an SASE for response, scripts WILL NOT be returned.
Special programs: CenterPieces: staged readings of unpublished one-acts 20-35 minutes long (no 10-minute plays) with preference for pieces appropriate for a general audience at lunch time and casts of 5 or fewer actors. The Norfolk Southern Festival of New Works (see Prizes).

MILL MOUNTAIN THEATRE'S NORFOLK SOUTHERN FESTIVAL OF NEW WORKS

Types of material: Full length plays, musicals, solo pieces. 
Frequency: annual. 
Remuneration: Two plays will be chosen for full productions to be performed in repertory during the festival (month of April), royalty payment (at least $200), travel stipend and housing for limited residency. 
Guidelines: U.S. resident; 1 un-produced, unpublished submission; no 10-minute plays; preference given to small casts, minimal production concerns, unit sets that can easily be used in repertory changeovers. 
Submission procedure: invitation, agent submission or script with letter of recommendation by director, literary manager, or dramaturge; include cassette or CD for musical; send SASE for complete guidelines or download from the web.  Include only an SASE for response, scripts WILL NOT be returned.

Deadline: January 1st annually.
