THE FOREIGNER - Cast Biographies

ROB NEUKIRCH* (Charlie Baker)
Until recently, Rob was the owner of Oddfella's Cantina in Floyd, VA. He is thrilled to be acting again and is pleased to be making his debut at Mill Mountain Theatre in The Foreigner. Prior to his career as a restaurateur, Rob appeared in several theatrical, film, and television productions. His credits include The Old Boy and Ballad of the Blacksmith at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, as well as numerous off-Broadway productions in New York; the films One Night at McCools, Out on a Limb, and Vital Signs; and television guest starring roles in Picket Fences, The George Carlin Show, Knots Landing, Cheers, Tour of Duty, Alf, Hooperman, Night Court, L.A. Law, and the miniseries Guts and Glory, among others. Rob wrote and directed Gaining Faith at the Barnstormers in New Hampshire; his other produced scripts include An Evening Out, Three by One, and If Dogs Could Talk.

JEFF BURCHFIELD* (Owen Musser) last played Roanoke in the Barter Theatre tour of The Fantasticks in 1981, his first Equity job. His New York theatre credits include A Midsummer Night's Dream Off-Broadway at the Brooklyn Academy of Music; Bartleby the Scrivener ("a gem"-New York Times); the premiere of Keith Reddin's Prophets of Nature; and as a Guest Artist at Columbia University, roles in The Crucible and One Flea Spare. He has workshopped new plays at Ensemble Studio Theatre, Manhattan Class Company, New York Theatre Workshop and the Actors Studio. He is featured in the NBC-TV pilot Play or Be Played, directed by Barry Sonnenfeld; and the independent film Winter of Frozen Dreams.

KATE WILLIAMS STONE* (Catherine Simms) New York Credits include: Wingman and Five Women Wearing the Same Dress. Regional Favorites include Humbug, Almost, Maine, Steel Magnolias and Crimes of the Heart. Television appearances include: Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Guiding Light. Numerous commercials including an “80’s Gold” infomercial with rock legend, Rick Springfield. Kate is a Carnegie Mellon University Graduate with a B.F.A in Acting. She resides in NYC with her husband, Pete.

JEANNE EVANS* (Betty Meeks) has played a wide variety of characters from Amanda in Glass Menagerie to King Duncan and the Dr. in Macbeth at the Edinburgh, Scotland Fringe Festival. She played ‘A’ in Three Tall Women and 4 disparate rural women in Cooking With Lard. In movies she put Lea Thompson in jail and was Dyann Cannon and Donna Mills’ mom. She was Richard Gere’s first gynecology patient in Dr. T and the Women … definitely a career highlight!

BEN MASUR* (Rev. David Marshall Lee) is happy to make his first appearance at Mill Mountain Theatre. In New York, Ben has appeared with Obie Award-winning companies Transport Group (All The Way Home), Synapse Productions (Animal Farm), and Clubbed Thumb (365 Plays…). Regional credits include American Stage (Metamorphoses), and New Jersey Rep (Lemonade). TV: NBC pilot M.O.N.Y., directed by Spike Lee; HBO commercial "Surprise," directed by Sam Mendes. Ben holds an MFA from Columbia University.

BILL FORD CAMPBELL* (Froggy LeSueur) Over the past 25 seasons, some of his favorite roles have included Ben in Broadway Bound, Paul in Misery, Ivan in Art, Frank in Molly Sweeney, Tito in Lend Me A Tenor, Nixon in Nixon’s Nixon, Froggy in The Foreigner and Carl in Getting Out. His musical credits include El Gallo in The Fantasticks, The Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance and Dorris R. Gladney in the world premier of the musical based on Eudora Welty’s The Ponder Heart. Campbell also has appeared at St. Petersburg’s American Stage, Little Rock’s Arkansas Repertory Theatre, and the Hippodrome in Gainesville, Fla. His most recent MMT production was Hank Williams: Lost Highway and Misery.

TOMMY BUCK* (Ellard Simms) is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. He was a member of the original New York cast of Asylum. His most recent role was Ben in Six Degrees of Separation at The Gallery Players in Brooklyn. He has done regional work with the New Stage Theatre in Jackson, Mississippi. Tommy's favorite roles have included Dinky Dau in Tracers, Stanley in Brighton Beach Memoirs and Jack in Boys' Life.

STEVE BREEDING (Townsperson) is a regular at Mill Mountain Theater's Underground Roanoke. Appearing several times previously in "Best of No Shame Theater", this is his first time on the Trinkle Main Stage during a regular production.

STEVEN GIBBS (Townsperson) a native Texan, graduated from West Virginia University with a BFA in acting. He is an acting intern at MMT and has appeared in Lord of the Flies and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.While at WVU he performed in Measure for Measure as Lucio, The Winter’s Tale as Florizel, A Flea in Her Ear as Chandel/Poche, The Philadelphia Story as Dexter and Richard III as Buckingham. Steven has been performing professionally for about 20 years. Some of his professional credits include The Texas Shakespeare Festival, The Oxford Shakespeare Festival, Capital City Playhouse, Runamok Theatre Company, Zilker Park Summer Musicals. Steven has also toured as Baby John in West Side Story and Darius in Jeffery.

JOHN BRILL (Townsperson) has performed at Virginia Western Community College, Showtimers, Attic Productions, and Crime Scene Dinner Theatre. Most recently he played John Smith in Ted Mill's "Voices from Jamestown: The First Four Years" at VWCC. This is his first performance at Mill Mountain Theatre and hopefully not the last.

DWAYNE YANCEY (Townsperson) is making his acting debut on the Trinkle Main Stage, but his words have preceded him. As a playwright, Yancey has had his work produced in 38 states and 6 countries, including “Stuck on You,” which was part of Mill Mountain Theatre’s Overnight Sensations 24-hour play project in 2006. By day, Yancey is a senior editor at The Roanoke Times. In 1985, he covered the plane crash in which Larry Shue lost his life.
